One menu for every Keen site, and the next timer to try
Two small changes today that make KeenTimer easier to find your way around.
A menu with everything in it
The new button at the right end of the header opens a compact menu with every tool, from the plain timer and stopwatch to the Pomodoro timer, Tabata timer, chess clock and metronome. Below them are the six timer collections, such as cooking timers, workout timers and game timers, plus all timers, your history, this blog and the changelog.
It opens without moving anything on the page, so a running timer stays exactly where it was. Esc or a tap outside closes it, and it works with a keyboard and screen readers. Languages are still at the bottom of every page.
The same menu now sits on every free Keen site, and it links them all: KeenCalculator, KeenInvoice, KeenWheel, KeenText, KeenSignature and KeenResume. Once you know where things are on one, you know them on all of them.
The next timer you need
Timers rarely come alone. If you are boiling pasta, the sauce or the eggs are next; after a Tabata session you might want the interval timer or a plank timer. So every tool, preset and timer collection page now ends with Keep exploring: related timers with a line on what each does, more from the same collection, and the preset lengths people use most, like the 5 minute timer or the 25 minute timer.
Over on KeenCalculator
Our sister site shipped something bigger today: 40 calculators now draw the shape you are measuring and show the working with your own numbers. If you have ever wondered why a cone holds a third of a cylinder, the volume calculator shows it, step by step. The announcement has the details.
Everything that changes on KeenTimer is listed in the changelog.
