Study and Work Timers
A timer for each kind of desk work: study blocks with breaks, a silent exam clock, a stand-up that actually ends, a speech with warning lights.
Which timer for which job
For long study or work days, use a cycle: the study timer (50 minutes on, 10 off), 52/17 or the 90-minute deep-work timer. They move from focus to break by themselves and count the sessions you finish. For a single stretch of concentration with nothing else on screen, use the focus timer.
For anything with a hard stop, use a plain countdown: the exam timer for practice papers, the homework timer set by school grade, the meeting timer with 25- and 50-minute slots that leave time to get to the next one.
For people speaking in turn, the stand-up timer gives everyone the same slot, the speech timer shows green, yellow and red signals at the usual times, and the debate timer runs each speech of a Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum or British Parliamentary round in order.
Questions people ask
Is the study timer the same as the Pomodoro timer?
It runs on the same engine, with longer sessions by default: 50 minutes of work and a 10-minute break, which suits reading and problem sets better than 25 minutes. One tap switches it to 25/5.
Can I use these timers silently?
Yes. Choose “Silent (flash only)” as the alarm sound and the screen flashes instead. The exam timer is meant to be used that way in a quiet room.
Do the timers keep running in another tab?
Yes. The end time is fixed when you press Start, the tab title shows the time left, and the alarm sounds when it ends as long as the tab stays open.
