How the days are counted
The four boxes show the exact time remaining: whole days, then the hours, minutes and seconds left over. So at 6 p.m. the day before your event at midnight, it reads 0 days and 6 hours.
When people say “days until”, they often mean calendar days — sleeps. That number is shown under the countdown as weeks and days when the date is two weeks or more away.
A shared link carries the date as local time, so a friend in another time zone counts down to that same clock time where they are — right for a holiday, wrong for a live event. For a single worldwide moment, tell them the time in their zone using the world clock.
Questions people ask
Can I count down to a time, not just a date?
Yes. The date field includes hours and minutes, and the countdown runs to that minute.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
The display flashes briefly and then counts up, showing how long ago the moment passed.
Where are my saved countdowns kept?
In this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded. Use the History page to export a backup of everything the site has saved.
Do you have ready-made holiday countdowns?
Yes. There are pages for Christmas, New Year, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, the seasons and more, each with the date rule and upcoming dates.
