About the date
The date falls between May 8 and May 14. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed it a national observance in 1914, after years of campaigning by Anna Jarvis.
This page uses the United States date. The same date is used in Canada, Australia and many other countries, but not everywhere: the United Kingdom’s Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent, usually in March.
