Workout Timers

Choose the session and press Start. The rounds, holds and rests are already filled in, and the beeps tell you when to change.

Built on the interval timer

Most of these pages are the interval timer with the numbers already entered: three-minute boxing rounds with a minute between them, 30-second stretches, a run-walk plan with a warm-up and cool-down. The work, rest and round steppers are still there, so you can change anything and the page remembers it.

The screen changes color with each phase and three short beeps count down the end of every interval, so you can prop the phone against a wall and never look at it. Full screen makes the digits readable from across a room.

These pages give general guidance for healthy adults, not medical advice. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, an injury or are returning after a long break, check with a doctor or physiotherapist before starting hard intervals or long isometric holds.

Questions people ask

What is the difference between these and the interval timer?

Nothing under the hood. Each page is the same timer with a sensible plan loaded for one kind of session, plus the reasoning behind the numbers. If you want to build a session from scratch, use the interval timer directly.

Do the timers work with music playing?

Yes. The beeps play over whatever else your device is playing. On an iPhone the ring/silent switch has to be set to ring for web pages to make sound.

Is my workout saved?

Finished sessions are listed on the History page, and each timer remembers the last settings you used. Everything stays in your browser.
